Application for a store

Welcome to the store application page

It is designed & written to provide you with not only the Rules & Regulations governing store owners on the MOTS site but also to provide you with an understanding of the MOTS' attitude & philosophy behind what MOTS is striving to accomplish & provide to the worldwide SIMS community.

Work with us to build a better SIMS world.

Please note that you must be at least 15 years old to have a Store here at MOTS.

Information (Read this First)
  1. Introduction

  2. MOTS' goal is to be the world's largest and principal location for private community SIMS add-ons and creations. It helps everyone if MOTS is the first or exclusive location for an add-on or creation, but even if we are not, we would rather have a well made quality item on our site than not.
  3. Your Commitment as a Store Owner

  4. Due to increasing demand for quality SIMS content we have made the store owner application process both more comprehensive and friendly as we attempt to attract new store ideas and owners that are strongly dedicated & commited to maintaining their store; showing a "community" spirit at Club MOTS; continually presenting, providing and updating work of excellent quality; and ideally offering content that is 100% original.
  5. Store Maintenance

  6. Your reputation as a designer/artist in the world wide SIMS community is likely to be a direct reflection of the way you actually present, build, develop, update, improve and maintain your store. All stores are "self-maintained" after creation. What this means is that you are responsible for the image and attitude you present to the world wide SIMS community by the way you present, develop, update & improve the inventory you place in your store. MOTS will work with you to help accomplish this; and as a part of that commitment to you we provide "File-Imaging" software that allows you to quickly and easily upload, and immediately update, new content to your store. This software provides you with the ability to accomplish this according to your personal schedule!
  7. Access

  8. Store owners will not have FTP access to MOTS. The principal job of a store owner is to create and continually provide new materials and inventory for placement in their stores, and those purposes FTP access is not necessary (see Store Maintenance section). A successful store owner needs to be continually creative, coming up with new & different product ideas, categories, designs, inventory and such. We know if you werent interested in participating with MOTS in this spirit you wouldn't be reading this document, but you must be wiling to persevere and continue in this spirit to the fullest degree that you can. That spirit is what makes this worthwhile to you, MOTS, and your fellow artists and designers. Your attitude and continual additions to your store build not only your market and the interest in your designs and creations, but it also directly contributes to the growth and interest in every other designer and artist on the site by directly and vitally contributing to the sites quality and value to our fellow SIMS devotees.
  9. Other Rules & Regulations (We wouldn't sound professional without other rules and regulations, right?)
    1. All store owners will treat the property of MOTS(Mall of the SIMS) with the utmost respect and courtesy.
    2. All store owners will treat the users and fellow store owners of MOTS with the utmost respect and courtesy.
    3. All store owners, upon submitting material for their store, fully, completely, permanently and irrevocably license that material to the Mall of the SIMS for its use by MOTS for the purpose of its distribution via MOTS. This is to help provide a platform to support the many artists in our community with the organized distribution of this add-on Sims content.
    4. Please read the MOTS Terms of Use Agreement for a more comprehensive description of MOTS copyright policy.
    5. MOTS goal is to be the worlds largest and principal location for private community SIMS add-ons and creations. It helps everyone if MOTS is the first or exclusive but even if we are not we would rather have an item on board than not. This does not apply to items stolen from another creator, artist or location.
    6. If an owner's store is "abandoned" MOTS will make a reasonable effort to continue to give credit to the original artist for the work they submitted and MOTS may, at its sole discretion: keep the store open with all content remaining in it; and/or MOTS may keep the same name of the store and appoint a new "manager" if they so desire; and/or MOTS may utilize the content in any fashion it deems helpful to the MOTS store community. Abandoned shall mean that no significant new uploads and refreshing of the store has occurred for at least two months.
    7. Each store owner will receive access to the Club MOTS Staff and Store Owner's Forum. They will also receive a free MOTS Subscription, maintained & continued as current as long as the store owner successfully & properly maintains their store site & ownership. If a store owner chooses to discontinue "ownership" or abandons their store for any reason, they will no longer have access to the Staff Owners forum or the MOTS Subscription service.

Application Step One: Making the Graphics

All potential store owners must make their OWN store graphics.

(This is mandatory to even be considered for a store. We choose to require the owners to make graphics to help control the incredible quality of merchandise available here at the Mall.)

In order to create your store's graphics, you'll need to understand a little about how the Mall of the SIMS is put together. We use a single graphic that is 250 pixels wide. If you need to stretch this a little you can but it will cut into the space for displaying your item. Take a look at the free stores for examples.

These are the following to keep in mind when submitting your store's graphics to us
  • Don't be afraid to be TOO CREATIVE. We are only looking for HIGH QUALITY graphics and superb ideas for stores here at the Mall.
  • Please don't send any more store applications with names that start with "Sim"!! I think we've got plenty right now. Come on you can be more creative with your name.

Application Step Two: Submitting Your Application

After completing your store's graphics, send the following items and information to us:
  • Full Name
  • Age (minimum age is 15)
  • Store Name
  • Category Names
  • Current amount of work already COMPLETED* that will be submitted upon opening. (*Please do not submit a Store Application if you don't have anything to put in a store!)
  • A little about why you want a store and what you plan to have in it.
  • Your new store's graphics
  • At least TWO actual file samples of the Skins, Walls, Floors, Objects, or Homes you will be submitting to your store. If you will be offering items in more than one of those categories, please send TWO actual file samples from each category. Also include at least two screenshots of others. This is so that we can get a good idea of your overall creative abilities.
  • Your current E-Mail Address

Once ALL of the information above is gathered together, you may submit the application via e-mail to stores@mallofthesims.com subject Store Application.

After submiting your application you will be notified within 2 weeks whether your store is approved or disapproved. Either way, we will contact you.

Incomplete Applications, and those without accompanying samples and graphics, will not be considered.
